One More Time
“One More Time” is an 8 ft bronze portrayal of the legendary “Erk Russell” and his gallon jug of “Beautiful Eagle Creek Water”. Commissioned under the leadership of Georgia Southern fan, fundraiser and avid supporter Derek Sills, “Erk” is sculpted forever in bronze at that inspirational moment .
It was an incredible feeling to see the man that is beloved by so many football fans across the south come to life as an 8 foot tall statue. Coach Russell deserved to stand guard over the stadium that he named “Our House”. It is an amazing feeling to drive by the front of the stadium at night and see a larger than life “ERK” lit up and still coaching in the program that he built. The traditions that he created for Georgia Southern like Beautiful Eagle Creek, The Yellow Buses, One More Time, GATA, and DO RIGHT are still the foundation of our program. I still get fired up seeing him wear the ripped up “JUST ONE MORE TIME” t-shirt that he wore pregame of the 1989 National Championship or as it’s known to us as ERK’S LAST GAME . Through an 8 foot high statue, the legend lives on. GATA
